About Solus Christus
Solus Christus is Latin for Christ alone. This phrase is part of the five solas that came out of the protestant Reformation, the heart of Reformation theology. The five solas are:
sola scriptura (scripture alone) - theology comes from scripture alone
sola fide (faith alone) - we are saved by faith alone, the receival of Jesus’ saving works
sola gratia (grace alone) - we are saved by grace alone, grace given to us through Christ
solus Christus (Christ alone) - salvation comes through Christ alone
soli Deo gloria (to the glory of God alone) - all of life is for the glory of God alone
The Reformation was about Jesus Christ’s death as the only source of our forgiveness, life, and salvation. That is to say, we are saved by Christ alone (solus Christus).
Solus Christus serves as our name to be a constant reminder that everything we do goes back to Christ alone, the one who holds it all together.
